The book follows Kathy Collens and four other young women who served with the 223rd General Hospital in France during World War II. From caring for wounded soldiers near the Battle of the Bulge and survivors of the Dachau concentration camp to celebrating VE Day and finding moments of friendship, hope, and even romance, their experiences offer a powerful and deeply personal look at the war from a woman's perspective.
